Leslie Odom Jr., celebrated for his portrayal of Aaron Burr, is set to reprise his iconic role in Hamilton on Broadway. From September 9 to November 23, 2025, he will return to the Richard Rodgers Theatre, marking his first time back since 2016. This return coincides with Hamilton's 10th anniversary, adding special significance to Odom's homecoming.
Leslie Odom Jr. is heading back to the “room where it happens.” The Tony and Grammy Award-winning performer announced live on TODAY Monday that he will reprise his career-defining role as Aaron Burr in the Broadway hit Hamilton.

Odom will return to the stage at the Richard Rodgers Theatre for a limited engagement from September 9 through November 23, 2025 marking the first time he has stepped back into the role on Broadway since his departure in 2016.

A full-circle moment during ‘Hamilton’s’ 10th anniversary

The news comes at a milestone moment, as Hamilton celebrates its 10-year anniversary on Broadway. In a press release, Odom reflected on what the opportunity means to him.

“Returning to ‘Hamilton’ is a deeply meaningful homecoming,” he said. “I’m so grateful for the chance to step back into the room — especially during this anniversary moment and to revisit this brilliant piece that forever changed my life and the lives of so many.”

Odom originated the role of Aaron Burr in the off-Broadway run and remained with the production when it transferred to Broadway in August 2015. He left the show in July 2016, alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda and Phillipa Soo, wrapping up what would become a legendary original cast era.

A performance that left a lasting legacy

Odom’s performance in Hamilton earned him a Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical in 2016, as well as a Grammy Award as part of the original cast album. His rendition of “The Room Where It Happens” became a cultural touchstone and a highlight of the show’s second act.

“When I saw Leslie perform ‘The Room Where It Happens’ at the first act two workshop of Hamilton, I knew I was witnessing a historic moment,” said lead producer Jeffrey Seller. “How lucky we are that Leslie is returning to Hamilton and bringing his indelible Burr back to Broadway.”

Beyond burr: Odom’s expanding career

Since leaving Hamilton, Odom has branched out across film, television, literature, and music. He’s appeared in high-profile projects such as Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Harriet, and Abbott Elementary, and made a return to the stage in last year’s Purlie Victorious.

He’s also released five studio albums, authored the memoir Failing Up, and co-wrote a children’s book with his wife titled I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know.
