Netflix is preparing for a significant content refresh in August 2025, leading to the removal of numerous popular movies and TV shows due to expiring licensing agreements. Major titles like *Dunkirk*, *Ugly Betty*, *Kung Fu Panda 4*, and several Alfred Hitchcock classics are set to depart. Subscribers are encouraged to check the 'last day to watch' notices and prioritize viewing their favorites before they disappear from the platform.

Netflix is set to remove a wide range of movies and TV shows throughout August 2025 as part of its monthly content refresh tied to licensing agreements. The platform regularly updates its library, meaning several popular titles will no longer be available to stream once these deals expire.

The first big wave of removals will hit on August 1. That day alone will see the departure of major films such as Dunkirk, Everest, Matilda, Lucy, The Lego Movie, Rear Window, The Birds, Psycho, Happy Gilmore, Field of Dreams, The Wedding Planner, and The Town. Long-running series like Heartland (Seasons 1–16), Ugly Betty (Seasons 1–4), and My Perfect Landing will also leave. A number of Alfred Hitchcock classics are included in this batch, making it a significant loss for fans of vintage thrillers.

The removals continue throughout the month with a rolling schedule. On August 5, viewers will lose My Wife and Kids (Seasons 1–5), along with films like Lockdown and Love Is War. Later in the month, shows such as Ever After High, Ballers (Seasons 1–5), A Discovery of Witches, Fear the Walking Dead, Preacher, Interview with the Vampire, and Into the Badlands will also leave the platform. Films like Kung Fu Panda 4, Uncle Drew, The Boss Baby, Melancholia, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves are among other notable exits.

Titles leave Netflix when licensing agreements with studios and content owners expire. These deals are often time-bound, and once the rights lapse, Netflix is no longer permitted to stream them. To stay ahead, viewers can check the “last day to watch” label within the Netflix app or follow official announcements and listings from the platform.

With such a large list of removals this month, subscribers are advised to watch their favorite titles before they disappear.
