Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu headline the WNBA All-Star weekend's 3-point contest in Indianapolis, joined by top shooters like Kelsey Plum and defending champion Allisha Gray. Despite Clark's current shooting struggles, her impressive college record adds intrigue to the competition. This event underscores the rising popularity of women's basketball, setting the stage for an exciting All-Star weekend.
All eyes will be on Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu this Friday as they square off in one of the most anticipated events of WNBA All-Star weekend: the 3-point contest. The sharpshooting showcase, taking place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Clark’s home court with the Indiana Fever, promises star power and drama as two of the league’s most marketable players go head-to-head.

Clark and Ionescu will be joined in the competition by Kelsey Plum of the Los Angeles Sparks, rising rookie Sonia Citron from the Washington Mystics, and defending champion Allisha Gray of the Atlanta Dream. Gray, who also took home the WNBA Skills Challenge title last year, will return for that event as well, competing alongside Skylar Diggins and Erica Wheeler of the Seattle Storm, Courtney Williams from the Minnesota Lynx, and Natasha Cloud of the New York Liberty.

Although Clark has been battling leg injuries and enters the contest shooting just 28.9 percent from beyond the arc this season, her college résumé speaks volumes. At Iowa, she shot 37.7 percent from deep and became the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer with 3,951 points. She also led the WNBA in made threes last season with 122 and finished seventh in three-point percentage at 34.4 percent.

Ionescu, another dynamic guard with a history of clutch performances, is hitting 30.9 percent from three this season. Plum brings consistency and ranks among the league’s most accurate shooters at 35 percent, while Gray leads the field at an impressive 38.9 percent.

This year's 3-point contest is especially significant, not just because of the talent on display, but because it highlights the growing visibility and fan interest in the women’s game. Hosting the event in Indianapolis, where Clark has helped energize the Fever fanbase, further adds to the excitement.

The 3-point contest and Skills Challenge will kick off All-Star weekend festivities on Friday, with the WNBA All-Star Game set for Saturday. As two of the game’s brightest stars, Clark and Ionescu are sure to bring fireworks to the court and set the tone for what promises to be a thrilling weekend in women’s basketball.
