Elon Musk has launched a fierce attack on the U.S. judiciary following multiple court rulings against his government overhaul initiative, Doge. Musk, who serves as a senior adviser to Donald Trump, has accused judges of being political activists and called for their impeachment. The legal pushback threatens his sweeping policy changes, including mass layoffs and access to government data.
Musk's online offensive against judges
Musk also launched a petition against "activist judges" through his political group, America Pac, offering registered voters in Wisconsin $100 to sign it. His efforts align with a broader political movement aimed at reshaping the judicial system in favor of the Trump administration’s agenda.
Legal battles over Doge’s government overhaul
A Maryland judge recently ruled that Musk’s takeover of USAID violated the constitution, citing his role as an unelected adviser. Another court ruling prevented Doge from accessing millions of Americans’ personal records, citing privacy concerns. These legal setbacks have slowed Musk’s efforts to centralize power and reduce government oversight.
Political funding and growing influence
His political action group, America Pac, has also invested millions into key state elections, particularly in Wisconsin’s upcoming Supreme Court race. Analysts see Musk’s actions as an attempt to reshape the judiciary and bolster the Trump administration’s influence in legal matters.
Rising tensions between Trump administration and courts
The situation has escalated to the point where Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts issued a rare public statement, defending the independence of the judiciary. In response, Musk dismissed the statement and reiterated his belief that impeachment is the only solution.
With legal challenges mounting and political divisions deepening, Musk’s campaign against the courts signals a turbulent chapter in U.S. governance. Whether his efforts will succeed remains uncertain, but the battle between the judiciary and the Trump administration is far from over.
