President Donald Trump warned Iran, holding it accountable for Yemeni Houthi attacks. He declared each Houthi action as Iranian, promising severe repercussions. The U.S. increased military responses with airstrikes after a Houthi attack on the USS Harry S Truman. Despite Iran's denial of involvement, diplomatic channels for nuclear negotiations remain strained.
President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning, declaring that Iran will be held directly accountable for any future attacks by Yemen’s Tehran-backed Houthi rebels. He stated that every Houthi attack would be seen as an Iranian action, promising severe repercussions.
"Every shot fired by the Houthis will be looked upon, from this point forward, as being a shot fired from the weapons and leadership of IRAN," Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, warning that Iran would face "dire" consequences.
The U.S. has ramped up its military response, conducting airstrikes that reportedly killed at least 53 people over the weekend. The strikes come amid growing concerns over the Houthis’ repeated attacks on foreign vessels, including a recent attempt to strike the USS Harry S Truman aircraft carrier in the Red Sea. U.S. defenses intercepted the attack, preventing any damage.
Despite Trump’s claims, Iran has denied direct involvement in Houthi military operations. The head of Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guards sought to distance Tehran from the rebel group’s actions. Trump, however, dismissed this stance, alleging that Iran supplies the Houthis with weapons, funding, and intelligence.
As tensions escalate, diplomatic efforts continue behind the scenes. Trump recently sent a letter to Iran in an attempt to restart negotiations over Tehran’s advancing nuclear program. Iran has yet to formally respond, leaving the future of U.S.-Iran relations uncertain amid rising hostilities in the region.
